The Hon. Adam M. Conrad is a special judge for the North Carolina Business Court. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pat McCrory on December 23, 2016. Conrad was nominated by Governor Roy Cooper for reappointment in 2021.
Conrad presides over Complex Business Cases and has served on multiple eCourts committees.
Prior to joining the bench, he gained experience in intellectual property, constitutional, and other civil matters as a partner at King & Spalding. Conrad began as an associate at the firm in 2007 and was named a partner in 2014.
He received a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 2002. Conrad then completed a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 2005. While a law student, he was a member of the Order of the Coif and sat as Editor-in-Chief of the Georgia Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Conrad began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. David B. Sentelle with the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the Hon. Clarence Thomas with the United States Supreme Court.
He is a member of the American College of Business Court Judges.
Conrad and his wife, Danielle, a fellow attorney, have three children. The family resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
