Corey Hughes (Petitioner) is charged with a misdemeanor offense and seeks a writ of
mandamus directing the lower court to dismiss his misdemeanor charges on the basis of his
continued incompetency to stand trial. Having reviewed the petition and applicable law, the Court
finds as follows:
Petitioner alleges that during an October 13, 2017, status conference, he advised the trial
court that October 24, 2017, would be one year from the finding of incompetency and the charge
should be dismissed at that time. While the petition discusses subsequent proceedings held
