Biography

Hon. Vivianne Del Rio is a judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Miami-Dade County. She was elected to the bench in 2018.


During her judicial tenure, Del Rio has held assignments in the Unified Children's Court Division and the Civil Division.


She received a B.B.A. in marketing and management from Southern Methodist University in 1986. Del Rio then completed a J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law in 1991.


While attending law school, Del Rio worked as an intern for the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. She continued on with the office after graduating, working as an assistant state attorney there until her election to the bench. Over the course of her twenty-six-year tenure, Del Rio began as a trial attorney and later was named head of the State Attorney's Post Conviction Unit.


Her memberships have included the Cuban American Bar Association, the Dade County Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and the League of Prosecutors. She also served as head of the Justice Project and taught a CLE course on Post-Conviction Motions.


Del Rio is a native of Miami, Florida.
