Judge R. Bruce Cozzens, Jr.: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. R. Bruce Cozzens, Jr. is a Justice of the Nassau County Supreme Court in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. He was first elected to the Supreme Court bench in 1998 and was then re-elected to a second term in 2012.

Justice Cozzens graduated with his B.A. in Latin American studies from the University of Virginia in 1971. He went on to earn his J.D. from Pace University School of Law in 1980.

Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Cozzens had practiced personal injury litigation as the senior partner at McCabe and Cozzens since 1987.

Cozzens has also taught pre-trial skills as an adjunct professor of law at Hofstra University since 2006.
