Judge Josephine Gagliardi - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Josephine Gagliardi is a judge for the Lee County Court in the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jeb Bush in 2006.

Gagliardi has presided over civil and criminal matters, including misdemeanors, small claims, traffic, and municipal ordinance violations. She has also heard cases for the Lee County Felony Adult Drug Court as well as the Mental Health Court and the Veterans Treatment Court.

She received a B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. Gagliardi went on to complete a J.D. at Antioch School of Law (now the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law).

She is a past president of the Lee County Bar Association and a member of the Calusa American Inn of Court. She has also been involved with the Florida Courts Technology Commission and the Florida Courts Education Council, and she has acted as a judicial mentor judge and an editor of the Courier, which serves as the newsletter for the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida.

Gagliardi is a married mother of adult twin sons. When not presiding over legal proceedings, she has been active with the Boy Scouts and the Rotary Club.
