Judge Jennifer E. Newton: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Jennifer E. Newton is a judge for the Huntington County Superior Court in Indiana. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mike Pence in 2016, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jeffrey R. Heffelfinger (Ret.).

Prior to her appointment, Newton presided for twelve years as a magistrate and referee for the Huntington County Superior Court. During that time, she initiated the Drug Court in 2016, which she also presided over. Before joining the bench, Newton worked as a private practice attorney in Huntington.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Fort Wayne. Newton went on to complete a J.D. at Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2002. She was admitted to practice in Indiana (2002) and the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana (2002).

Her memberships include the Parkview Regional Corporate Compliance Committee and the Parkview Huntington Hospital Board of Directors.
