Judge Gerard J. Alonzo: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Gerard J. Alonzo (Ret.) was a judge for the Livingston County Court Multi-Bench in the Seventh Judicial District of New York. He joined the County Court in 1996 and retired in 2005.

During his tenure on the bench, Alonzo also served as an acting justice of the Livingston County Supreme Court. He began his judicial career as a village justice for the Village of Geneseo in 1977.

Alonzo received an A.B. in economics from Boston College in 1969. He went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1973. Alonzo also completed an M.F.A. in woodworking and furniture design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1990.

Prior to his judgeship, he worked in private practice.

After retiring from the bench Alonzo became a wood sculpture artist. His work has been featured in the State University of New York, Geneseo’s Lockhart Gallery and its Lederer Gallery, the Apartment One Gallery at Livingston Arts, the Genesee Valley Arts Council, the Livonia Public Library Gallery, and at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
