Judge David S. Zuckerman - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. David S. Zuckerman is an Acting Justice for the Westchester County Supreme Court in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. Zuckerman was initially elected to the Westchester County Court in 2013. Two years later, he was designated to the Westchester County Supreme Court by former Chief Administrative Judge A. Gail Prudenti.

Zuckerman earned a B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1979. Then, in 1982, he completed a J.D. from Boston University School of Law.

Shortly after graduating from law school, Zuckerman joined the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney.

Four years later, he left the public sector to become a founding partner of Zuckerman & Cruz. While in private practice, Zuckerman devoted a portion of his time to the Town of New Castle, where he served as town prosecutor from 1991 to 2007.

Zuckerman then began his judicial career as Town Justice for the Town of New Castle, a position he held from 2008 to 2012.

He has served as secretary and treasurer of the Westchester County Magistrates Association and chair of the New Castle Abuse Prevention Council. His other memberships have included the Westchester County Bar Association and the Westchester Women’s Bar Association.

Zuckerman has also been a volunteer EMT for the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
