Biography

Hon. Christopher R. Rothgery is a judge for the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas (General Division) in Ohio. He was elected to the bench in November 2004 and re-elected in 2010 and 2016.

Rothgery received a B.S. in criminal justice from Bowling Green State University. He went on to complete a J.D. at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1988.

Prior to joining the judiciary, Rothgery practiced for sixteen years as a private practice attorney and also spent time as an acting judge for the Elyria Municipal Court (1994 to 2003). As a private practice attorney, Rothgery engaged primarily in criminal defense work.

He was born in El Paso, Texas, and is a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School. Rothgery and his wife, Linda, have one daughter.

He is registered as a Democrat.
