The Hon. William R. Froeberg (Ret.) served as a judge for the Orange County Superior Court in California. Froeberg was appointed to the bench by former Governor George Deukmejian on May 12, 1989. He retired in 2014.
Over the course of his judicial career, Froeberg held assignments in the Family Law Division (1989 to 1991), the Civil Division (1991 to 1993), and the Criminal Division.
Prior to his appointment, Froeberg spent three years as a judge for the Santa Ana Municipal Court. Before that, he worked as an attorney in private practice, specializing in family law, business, real estate, probate, and corporate litigation matters from 1975 to 1986.
Froeberg earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Riverside in 1971. He then completed a J.D. at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1974.
His memberships have included the Dana Point Lions Club (President), the Capistrano Beach Chamber of Commerce (President), the California Judges Association, and the Orange County Bar Association.
Born in Chicago, Froeberg was raised in Claremont. He resided in San Clemente at the time of his appointment. His wife worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office in Santa Ana.
