Judge Teresa M. Pooler: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Teresa Mary Pooler is a judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Miami-Dade County. She was elected to the bench in 2012 and was retained in subsequent elections.

While on the bench, she has held assignments in the Criminal and Unified Children’s Court Divisions.

Pooler attended Smith College, where she received a B.A. in economics. She went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law in 1981.

Prior to her judicial career, she worked as a traffic hearing officer with the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County and had been a sole practitioner since 1991. Pooler also taught criminal justice as an adjunct professor at Florida International University.

Her sister, the Hon. Catherine Pooler (Ret.), served as a judge for the Miami-Dade County Court until retiring in 2012.
