The Hon. Steven W. Brockett is a judge for the Middletown City Court in Orange County in the Ninth Judicial District of New York. He was first appointed to the City Court bench in 2005 by former Middletown Mayor Marlinda Duncanson in 2005. Judge Brockett was then elected to the post in 2006 and re-elected in 2016.
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Brockett received his B.S. from St. John’s University in 1983. He went on to earn his J.D. from Hofstra University, Maurice A. Deane School of Law in 1986.
Prior to his appointment to the City Court, Brockett served as an attorney with both the Nassau County and Orange County Legal Aid Society.
While on the City Court bench, Judge Brockett has presided over the Middletown City Court Drug Treatment program and the Military Veterans Track. He was also instrumental in collaborating with the Orange County Department of Mental Health to establish the first mental health court in Orange County in 2009.
