Judge Linda Singer Stein - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Linda Singer Stein is a judge for the Miami-Dade County Court in Florida. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1993.

Singer Stein has held assignments as the Administrative Judge for the Civil Division of the Miami-Dade County Court.

Prior to her appointment, Singer Stein spent time as an appellate attorney at Thornton, David, Murray. She was also an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers and a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Singer Stein earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami in 1983. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law in 1986. She is admitted to practice in Florida (1987), the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida (1988), the District of Columbia (1989), the United States Supreme Court (1990), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh and the Third Circuits (1989).

Her memberships have included the Dade County Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, the Florida Association of Women Judges, and the Cuban American Bar Association.

She is a recipient of the Chief Justice Award for Judicial Excellence from the Conference of County Court Judges (2021), the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dade County Bar Association (2017), and the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Spanish American League Against Discrimination.

Singer Stein was born in Chicago, Illinois.
