The Hon. K. Douglas Walker is a judge for the Orange County Court in Florida. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on April 21, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Michael Deen to the 9th Judicial Circuit Court.
Prior to his appointment, Walker was an associate at Bradford Cederberg, a law firm he joined in 2017. He represented hospital and emergency room providers in personal injury protection lawsuits against auto-insurance carriers. Before that, he spent time as an assistant public defender in the Office of the Public Defender for the 9th Judicial Circuit (2014 to 2017).
Walker earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and telecommunications from the University of Florida in 2007. He worked at Merrill Lynch in Jacksonville for two years before completing a J.D. at Florida International University College of Law in 2012. As a law student, he sat as the editor-in-chief of the FIU Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Walker began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Mark E. Polen (2012 to 2013) and the Hon. Alan O. Forst (2013 to 2014) of the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal.
His memberships have included the Orange County Bar Association, the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association, the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has also been involved with the Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida and the Board of the Early Learning Coalition of Osceola County.
Raised in Fernandina Beach, Florida, Walker was a resident of Winter Garden at the time of his appointment. When not presiding over legal proceedings, Walker is a devoted Jacksonville Jaguars fan and season ticket holder. He also enjoys fishing, golfing, and spending time outdoors. He has an English Bulldog named Maggie.
