Judge Jeffrey M. Kolokoff: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Jeffrey M. Kolokoff (Ret.) was a judge for the Miami-Dade County Court in Florida. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on April 22, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Robert Watson to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court. Kolokoff was unsuccessful in his bid for re-election in 2022.

Prior to his appointment, Kolokoff was a senior trial attorney at Beighley, Myrick, Udell & Lynne, a law firm he joined in 2012. He represented individuals and corporations in civil and commercial litigation, criminal defense, insurance defense, and real estate litigation.

Kolokoff earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and legal studies from Bucknell University in 2001. He spent the next several years working as a financial adviser for Merrill Lynch (2002 to 2003) and Morgan Stanley (2004 to 2005) before completing a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law, in 2006.

He is admitted to practice in Florida, the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida.

After graduating from law school, Kolokoff began his legal career as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. During his tenure there, he held assignments in the Mortgage Fraud Unit (2010 to 2012), and he sat as the Assistant Chief of the County Court (2007 to 2008).

His memberships have included the Miami-Dade County Bar Association, the Cuban American Bar Association, the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association, the Coral Gables Bar Association, and the Miami Lakes Bar Association. He also served on the Miami Shores Village Personnel Appeals Board as well as the Professional Ethics Committee of the Florida Bar.
