Judge Diana Vizcaino - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Diana Vizcaino is a judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Miami-Dade County. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on September 16, 2021, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Martin Zilber.

Prior to her appointment, Vizcaino sat as a judge for the Miami-Dade County Court, a position to which she was named by former Governor Rick Scott in 2015.

Vizcaino earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Thomas University in 1996. She then completed a J.D. at St. Thomas University College of Law in 2000. She was admitted to practice in Florida (2001), the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit (2011), and the United States District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida (2001).

After graduating from law school, Vizcaino began her legal career as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. She served in that capacity until 2005, at which time she entered into private practice as a partner at Boyd, Mustelier, Smith & Parker.

Then, in 2007, Vizcaino joined the United States Equal Opportunity Commission. She worked there for the next year, eventually leaving to become an assistant city attorney for the Office of the Miami City Attorney.
