Biography

The Hon. Alison A. Kerestes is a judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She was elected to the bench on August 23, 2022.

The 9th Judicial Circuit encompasses Orange County and Osceola County. Kerestes has held assignments in Orange County, presiding over domestic violence cases.

Prior to her election, Kerestes was an attorney in her own private practice, a law firm she opened in 2014. She practiced alongside her husband, Steve, specializing in civil litigation, criminal defense, landlord/tenant, and foreclosure matters.

Kerestes earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in 2000. She worked in retail customer service before completing a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 2006.

After graduating from law school, Kerestes began her legal career as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 9th Judicial Circuit. She served in that capacity for eight years, handling everything from battery domestic violence to sex crimes, including the civil commitment of sexually violent predators after their prison sentences.

Her memberships have included the Orange County Bar Association, the Osceola County Bar Association, the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers, the League of Women Voters, the Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court, and the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. She has also been involved with the Rotary Club of Orlando, the Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida, the American Constitution Society, and the Kissimmee Chamber of Commerce.

Kerestes was born in Denver, Colorado.
