Background

This is a quiet title and elder abuse action. Plaintiff Inest Thacker owned two properties. The State initiated abatement actions against one property. Thacker’s son, defendant Byron Halcromb, warned Thacker that the State would take all her properties and convinced her to grant him power of attorney. Thacker alleges Halcromb was to hold property in trust for the benefit of herself. Halcromb instead borrowed $315,000 against the property from the Earle Hyman Pension Plan. On June 22, 2018, Thacker filed her Complaint against Halcromb.

On August 17, 2018, Halcromb conveyed the property to defendants Charity Laura Mostafa and Michael Blaise Reyes. Defendants Mostafa and Reyes then secured a $367,630 loan from defendant United Shore Financial Services, LLC (dba United Wholesale Mortgage, erroneously sued as “Unite
