BACKGROUND
On September 28, 2018, Petitioner Catalina Structured Funding, Inc. (“Petitioner”) filed the Petition for Approval for Transfer of Structured Settlement Payment Rights by and between Joshua Shada (“Transferor”) and Petitioner, pursuant to Insurance Code, §10134 et seq. Transferor entered into an agreement for the settlement of a personal injury claim. (Pet., ¶6.)
The settlement agreed to by Transferor provides for a certain lump sum and periodic structured payments, including but not limited to: (1) 59 monthly payments of $1,200.00 beginning August 8, 2023 through and including June 8, 2028; (2) 180 monthly payments of $1,673.00 beginning July 8, 2028 through and including June 8, 2043; and (3) 1 lump sum payment of $100,000.00 due July 8, 2031.
