BACKGROUND
On September 21, 2018, Petitioner Catalina Structured Funding, Inc. (“Petitioner”) filed the Petition for Approval for Transfer of Structured Settlement Payment Rights by and between Deon Moody (“Transferor”) and Petitioner, pursuant to Insurance Code, §10134 et seq. Transferor entered into an agreement for the settlement of a wrongful death claim. (Pet., ¶6.)
The settlement agreed to by Transferor provides for a certain lump sum and periodic structured payments, including but not limited to: 53 monthly payments of $500.00 beginning January 10, 2019 through and including May 10, 2023, increasing 3% annually each June.
