Background

Plaintiff Veronica Lopez sues defendants Grace Communications, Inc. (Grace), Roger M. Grace (Roger), and Jo-Ann W. Grace (Jo-Ann) for wrongful termination, disability discrimination, and related employment claims. (The Court refers to the individual defendants by their first names for clarity, not out of disrespect or familiarity).

According to the allegations, on January 21, 2000, plaintiff began her employment with defendants. Complaint ¶ 3. On November 20, 2014, at a doctor’s appointment concerning an upper respiratory infection, plaintiff’s physician placed plaintiff on medical leave from that date to December 5, 2014 for acute stress. Complaint ¶ 4. From November 16, 2014 through December 24, 2014, plaintiff submitted four doctor’s notes requesting medical leave through January 27, 2015. Complaint ¶ 5.
