BACKGROUND

This action arises out of Plaintiff Charles Ciorlieri’s (“Plaintiff”) employment as a maintenance worker and painter with Defendant Los Angeles Unified School District (“LAUSD” or “Defendant”). On September 27, 2012, Plaintiff injured his knees and lower spine, which both required surgery. As a result, Plaintiff’s physician place him on work restrictions limiting any lifting to 20 pounds, and prohibiting repetitive bending. Plaintiff alleges that Defendant refused to offer modified work, claiming it was not able to give Plaintiff reasonable accommodations, forcing Plaintiff to retire on September 27, 2014.
