Absent involuntary institutionalization through LPS confinement, which is also a possibility (though not before this Court), the proposed general conservatorship, where dad makes Heather's medical decisions, seems to be the only wedge preventing the young temporary conservatee from unintentionally taking her own life. While there could perhaps be a moral/ philosophical debate in some quarters as to whether a 26-year old has the right to commit suicide, Heather has not expressed that to be her intention, highlighting her inability to self-diagnose and to give informed consent for medical treatment.
If there is no objection from Heather or her counsel, grant petition. Appoint Jimmy Jacobs, conservator over the person of his daughter, Heather Jacobs. Set hearings on 60-day level of care determination and one-year status, the latter assuming Heather does not continue to undermine her own treatment.
