This is a subrogation action with a mere $28,372.40 in controversy. The originating dispute involves a 3.52 carat diamond consigned to the defendant jewelry store, and subsequently misplaced. Before the Court this day is an application by Tennessee Attorney Joshua Hillis to admit pro hac vice for this litigation.
Pursuant to CRC 9.40, a person who is not a member of the State Bar of California – but who is a member in good standing of and eligible to practice before the bar of any other court – may be permitted upon written application to appear as counsel pro hac vice if the following conditions are met:
