Plaintiff Rubi Castro, a police officer who was assigned to the sex crimes division, sues her employer and supervisors Defendants City of Long Beach (the “City”), Lieutenant Greg Schirmer (“Schirmer”), and Sergeant Norma Carrillo (“Carrillo”) (collectively, “Defendants”) for discrimination and harassment on the basis of gender and pregnancy. On September 22, 2020, Plaintiff filed a First Amended Complaint (“FAC”) against Defendants alleging causes of action for:

Disability and Gender Discrimination;

Failure to Prevent Discrimination and Harassment FEHA and Gov. Code § 12940, et seq.;

Hostile Work Environment;

Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress (“IIED”);

Declaratory Relief.

On September 8, 2020, the Court overruled Defendants’ demurrer as to the first three causes of action but sustained it as to the Fourth and Fifth cause of action.
