In case BC568691, Ryan Harper (“Ryan”) and Barbara Harper (“Barbara”) (collectively, "Plaintiffs") are suing defendants Manhattan Inn Operating Company, LLC, Promenade Restaurant Group, LLC, The Zislis Group, Inc., John Strain and Law Office of John Strain. The claims involve plaintiffs’ 2005 investment in the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach. Plaintiffs and Defendant David Zislis (“Defendant”) are investors in the hotel and Defendant is also the CFO and Treasurer of The Zislis Group, the managing entity of the hotel. That matter is stayed pending arbitration.
In this matter, Plaintiffs sue Defendant Zislis alone. Defendant filed an anti-SLAPP motion. On December 11, 2019, the Court issued a tentative ruling granting the motion. On March 3, 2020, Defendant served a Notice of Entry of Order. On March 13, 2020, Plaintiffs filed this opposed motion for reconsideration.
