On July 16, 2019, John Doe filed a class action petition for writ of administrative mandamus naming Timothy P. White and the Board of Trustees of the California State University as the respondents. Because of the class action allegations, the case was deemed complex and assigned to a complex courtroom. (LASC Local Rule 3.3(k)(8).) On January 7, 2020, the court granted Respondents’ motion to strike the class allegations in the Petition with leave to amend and Petitioner filed the First Amended Petition on February 14, 2020.

On August 4, 2020, the court granted Respondents’ motion to strike the class allegations in the First Amended Petition without leave to amend. On August 28, 2020, Petitioner filed a Notice of Appeal of the August 4, 2020 order and the appeal remains pending.
