Background

Marie Davies (“Plaintiff”) filed a complaint against Defendants Paul C. Lee, M.D. (“Dr. Lee”) and the California Center for Refractive Surgery (“CCRS”) (collectively, “Defendants”) asserting causes of action for professional negligence, lack of informed consent, and negligent hiring, training, and supervision following her LASIK surgery performed by Dr. Lee. Now, Plaintiff moves to amend the complaint to add: (1) a punitive damages claim against Defendants, and (2) Elizabeth Zazueta as a defendant. The motion is denied with respect to the claim for punitive damages but granted with respect to adding Elizabeth Zazueta as a defendant.
