Biography

The Hon. Thomas J. Mellon, Jr. (Ret.) served as a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Pete Wilson on January 20, 1994.

Mellon earned a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1967.

He began his legal career in Merced, California, where he worked for a legal aid organization for two years. He then served as a law clerk for the Hon. Albert Wollenberg of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Mellon worked as a business and real estate litigator at Sullivan, Jones & Archer, Chickering & Gregory, as well as Henn, Etzel, Mellon & Weiss.

Mellon was a recipient of the St. Thomas More Award from the St. Thomas More Society of San Francisco.
