The Hon. Thomas E. Kuhnle is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jamie A. Jacobs-May.
Kuhnle attended Stanford University, where he earned a B.A. in economics in 1987 as well as an M.A. in International Economics in 1988. He then continued his studies at Stanford Law School, completing his J.D. in 1995.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Kuhnle was a partner at Bingham McCutchen. He practiced there for fifteen years, specializing in business disputes and intellectual property cases.

He served as president of the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
