The Hon. Susan Jung Townsend is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2016.
She was endorsed by the Los Angeles County Young Democrats.
Judge Townsend graduated with her B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1992. She went on to graduate with honors from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles with her J.D. in 1996.
After graduating from law school, Townsend joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office in 1998. She served as a prosecutor for the D.A.'s office for 18 years, nine of which she spent assigned to the Bureau of Fraud and Corruption. She remained with the D.A.'s office until her election to the Superior Court in 2016.
Judge Townsend, who is of Korean descent, has been an active member of the Korean American community. She co-founded the Korean Prosecutors Association in 2010, has been a member of the National Asian Pacific Islander Prosecutors Association, and spoke at the Korean American Students Conference in 2018.
A native of Los Angeles, Townsend has been a volunteer for the Constitutional Rights Foundation.
