The Hon. Sharon A. Lueras is a judge for the Sacramento County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2007 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. She filled a new position that was created by SB 56 legislature.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Lueras graduated with her B.A. in sociology from California State University, Sacramento. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1988.
Lueras worked briefly in private practice after graduating from law school. Her area of practice centered around personal injury cases.
She would then enter the public sector in 1992 when she joined the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office, where she worked as a deputy district attorney until 2001. She also served as a deputy for the Yolo County D.A.'s office for one year. Then, in 2002, Lueras joined the California Department of Justice's Office of the Attorney General as a deputy attorney general. Three years later, she became lead corporations counsel for the California Department of Business Oversight's Division of Corporations. Lueras would remain in that capacity until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2007.
During her time on the bench, Judge Lueras has presided over a criminal assignment calendar as well as the Folsom Prison video calendar. She has also presided over the warrants, civil harassment, and DUI treatment courts.
