Hon. Sharon A. Chatman is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. She was appointed in June 2000.
Right after law school, she became a prosecutor. While Chatman was a prosecutor, she was recruited by Judge Eugene Hyman to accept a position as a judge.
Prior to her career in the legal profession, Chatman pursued her passion for sports. In her college days, she played as point guard for the Cal Poly Mustangs women basketball team. Her coaching career began with Andrew Putnam Hill High School in 1968 to 1974. She then coached De Anza College in Cupertino from 1974 to 1976. In 1976 to 1986, Chatman coached the San Jose State Spartans women’s basketball program for 10 seasons.
