The Hon. Sarah J. Heidel is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of Emilie H. Elias. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2017.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Heidel received her B.A. from Williams College and went on to earn her J.D. from UC Davis School of Law in 2000.
After graduating from law school, she clerked for the Hon. Ferdinand F. Fernandez with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit in California in 2000.
Then in 2001, Heidel joined the law firm of Sidley Austin as an associate. She practiced for the firm until she left to join the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California in 2005. She served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Major Frauds Section. She remained with the Attorney's Office until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2017.
