Biography

The Hon. Ruben N. Garcia is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in December of 2016 by former governor Jerry Brown. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Richard A. Stone (Ret.)

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Garcia received his B.A. from Columbia College. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Garcia had served as a deputy public defender with the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office since 1995.

He also practiced as an associate at the law firm of Rushfeldt, Shelley and Drake LLP in 1994 and at Bonne, Bridges, Mueller, O'Keefe, and Nichols from 1993 to 1994.
