The Hon. Roland L. Candee (Ret.) was a judge for the Sacramento County Superior Court in California. He was originally appointed to the Municipal Court in 1992 by former governor Pete Wilson. He was elevated to the Superior Court in 1998. Candee retired from the Sacramento County bench in 2013. His vacancy was filled by the Hon. Kenneth C. Mennemeier. In 2015, Candee was appointed by former governor Jerry Brown to serve as a justice on the California Courts-Martial Appellate Panel. His experience in the U.S Army paved the way to his elevation to the Courts-Martial.
He is a registered Republican.
Candee served in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1986. He served in the California Army National Guard JAG Corps from 1986 to 2008, where he reached the rank of Colonel. He would then go on to serve as a commanding general in the California State Military Reserve from 2009 to 2013.
Candee received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
His civilian experience included practicing as a partner at the law firm of Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann, and Girard from 1986 to 1992.
During his time on the bench, Candee served as a presiding judge.
