Biography

The Hon. Rick Brown (Ret.) was a judge for the Santa Barbara County Superior Court in California. He was originally elected to serve on the Solvang Justice Court in 1976. Then, after the area courts merged in 1995, Brown presided over the Municipal Court. He was subsequently elevated to the Superior Court as a result of the court's unification in 1998. He held his judicial position for 27 years until he retired in 2003.

Brown received his B.A. from Stanford University in 1964. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1967.

After his retirement, Brown was called back to the bench temporarily in 2013 to fill a vacancy left by the death of the Hon. Ed Bullard (deceased).
