Biography

The Hon. Rebecca L. Wightman is a commissioner for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. She was initially appointed by the court in August 2000, where she has handled child support, child custody, and child visitation cases.

Wightman earned a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1981.

Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court of San Francisco County, Wightman worked for the Superior Court of Marin County. During her tenure there, she served as a juvenile court hearing officer, a judge pro tem, as well as a part-time child support commissioner.

Wightman is a member of the Judicial Stakeholders’ Committee. This is a joint committee of the California Department of Child Support Services and the Judicial Council of California, which is tasked with reviewing proposed state regulations.

Wightman was the first recipient of the Commissioner of the Year Award from the California Court Commissioners Association (2015).
