Biography

The Hon. Patrick E. Tondreau is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Gray Davis in 2002, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John Ball.

Tondreau earned a B.A. from Santa Clara University in 1970. He then completed a J.D. from Gonzaga University in 1975.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Tondreau handled civil and criminal cases in private practice.

He has served as president of the Santa Clara County Bar Association.

Tondreau was named Wilmont Sweeney Juvenile Court Judge of the Year by the Juvenile Court Judges of California (2013). He is also a recipient of the Wester Sweet Award for Legal Activism by the San Jose/Silicon Valley NAACP (2014).
