The Hon. Patricia M. Lucas is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Gray Davis in 2002, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Edwin Pearce II.
She earned a B.A. from Rice University. She then completed a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1979.
Lucas began her legal career as an associate at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in 1979. Seven years later, she moved to Brown & Bain, where she practiced for another seven years. Then, in 1993, she started working for Fenwick & West as its litigation practice leader, a position she held until her appointment to the bench. Over the course of her legal career, she has specialized in employment and intellectual property litigation.
She has served as the Dean of the B. E. Witkin California Judicial College.
Lucas was born and raised in San Francisco, California.
