The Hon. Noël Wise is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2014. She filled the vacancy created by the Hon. Carrie McIntyre Panetta, who was appointed to the Monterey County Superior Court.
Wise is a registered Democrat.
Judge Wise received her B.S. from the University of Nevada. She then graduated with her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University and her M.S.L. from Stanford Law School.
After serving a year-long clerkship for the Hon. Harry Lee Anstead with the Florida Court of Appeal for the Fourth District, Wise went to work for the U.S. Department of Justice, where she served as an assistant U.S. Attorney beginning in 1994.
She remained with the DOJ for eight years, until leaving in 2002, to join Stoel Rives LLP, where she served as of counsel. She then became in-house counsel at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company beginning in 2004. Two years later, Wise would become a principal and founding member of WG&R Law Group LLP, where she would remain until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2014.
While on the bench, Judge Wise has presided over a civil direct calendar. She has also served as a judge for the Appellate Division.
She has been a member of the Alameda County Bar Association and a board member for Girls Inc. of Alameda County.
Wise has also served as a panel mediator for the Court of Appeal First District from 2001 to 2013 and as an adjunct professor at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law from 2000 to 2006.
