The Hon. Nancy L. Newman is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2003 by former governor Gray Davis. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Pamela Rogers (Ret.).
Judge Newman received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. She went on to earn her J.D. from Southwestern Law School.
Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court, Newman was a partner at the law firm of Knapp, Petersen, and Clarke where she had practiced since 1985. She specialized in the areas of insurance defense, product liability, and casualty cases. She also defended cases involving blood products contaminated with HIV by pharmaceutical companies. Before joining the firm, Newman practiced for the law firm of Ivie, McNeill, and Wyatt where she litigated probate, family, and juvenile law.
