Biography

The Hon. Michael S. Groch is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Yuri Hofmann.

Groch earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then received a J.D. from California Western School of Law in 1989.

Groch began his legal career in 1992. He first worked as a deputy district attorney for the Office of the District Attorney of Sacramento County. Then, in 1993, he joined the Office of the District Attorney of San Diego County, where he served as a deputy district attorney until his appointment to the bench.

He has served on the Board of Directors of the Rob Benzon Foundation.

He is registered as a Democrat.
