Biography

The Hon. Mary H. Strobel is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She succeeded the Hon. Kenneth Chotiner when she was appointed to the bench by former governor Gray Davis on April 12, 2002.

Judge Strobel received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

After graduating from law school, she joined the law firm of Mitchell, Silverberg and Knupp in 1983. In 1985 Judge Strobel joined the Santa Monica City Attorney's Office where she served in the Municipal Law Division as a litigator. In 1999 she served as staff counsel to the Appointed Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission that was initiated in an effort to reform the city government. Later Judge Strobel re-joined the Santa Monica City Attorney's Office in the General Counsel Division. She remained there until she was appointed to the Superior Court in 2002.
