The Hon. Margaret Miller Bernal is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior in California. She was originally appointed to the Whittier Municipal Court by former governor Pete Wilson on February 21, 1998. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Alfonso Hermo (Ret.). She was subsequently elevated to the Superior Court as a result of the court's unification in 2000.
Judge Miller Bernal received her B.A. from California State University, Long Beach in 1979. She went on to earn her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1983.
Prior to her appointment to the Municipal Court, Miller Bernal had been appointed a court commissioner for the Whittier Municipal Court in 1992. At the time of her appointment as a court commissioner, she was practicing as a partner at the Whittier law firm of Miller, Bernal, and Angevine.
In 2007 Judge Miller Bernal was named Judicial Officer of the Year.
