Biography

The Hon. Margaret Fujioka is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. She was elected to the bench in 2016.

Judge Fujioka received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Prior to winning the election, Fujioka had served a two-year term as the mayor of the City of Piedmont, where she also served as a city council member. Before her time as an elected official, Fujioka had worked as an administrative hearing officer for the counties of Alameda and San Francisco from 2010 to 2016. She also served as a legal advisor to the Chabot Space and Science Center for several years, and as a deputy city attorney for the Oakland City Attorney's Office from 1987 to 2008.

She was the past-president of the Asian American Bar Associaton of the Greater East Bay and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Judge Fujioka, who is of Japanese descent, is a native of Los Angeles. Her parents, paternal grandparents, and other family members were interned in prison camps during World War II.
