Marc R. Marmaro was a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was originally appointed to the bench in 2010 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Marmaro retired from the bench in 2018 after deciding not to serve a new six-year term.
He was registered as a Democrat.
Marmaro received his B.A. from George Washington University in 1969. He graduated cum laude with his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1972. While in law school, he was a member of the Order of the Coif honor society and also served as the editor for the New York Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Marmaro clerked for the Hon. John J. Gibbins with the U.S. District Court of Appeal for the 3rd Circuit. After completing his clerkship, he joined the law firm of Debevoise and Plimpton in 1973 as an associate. In 1975 Marmaro became an assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. After three years serving as a U.S. attorney, Marmaro joined the law firm of Manatt, Phelps, and Phillips as an associate in 1979. By the time he left the firm in 1981, he had been named a partner. He then became a founding partner of the law firm Jeffer, Mangels, Butler, and Marmaro in 1981 and remained there until being appointed to the Superior Court in 2010.
After retiring from the Superior Court, Marmaro became a neutral for Signature Resolution.
