Biography

The Hon. Loretta M. Norris (deceased) was a retired commissioner of the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. She was appointed by the court in 1989, where she oversaw civil harassment and discovery disputes until her retirement in 2004.

Norris earned a B.A. from Madison College (now James Madison University) in 1960. She then held a number of different jobs, working as a high school English teacher, a textbook editor, and a social worker. Fifteen years later, she decided to continue her studies, receiving a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1978.

Norris began her legal career as an associate at Carroll, Burdick & McDonough. She then joined the Zurich American Insurance Company as a managing attorney.

She was born in Roanoke, Virginia.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, and cooking.
