Biography

The Hon. Loretta M. Giorgi is a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. She was appointed by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on September 29, 2006, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Paul Alvarado.

Giorgi earned a B.S. from the University of California, Davis. She then received a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law.

Before her appointment to the bench, Giorgi served in the Office of the City Attorney of San Francisco. Initially hired as a deputy city attorney in 1985, she was eventually promoted to chief attorney. During her tenure there, Giorgi served on its executive team, where she handled investigations and civil prosecutions of complex cases involving public corruption and misconduct by city officials and contractors.

Giorgi was born in San Francisco, California.

She is registered as a Democrat.
