The Hon. Loren G. Freestone is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. He was appointed by former governor Jerry Brown on July 23, 2018, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. David J. Danielsen.
Freestone earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. He then received a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1997.
Freestone began his legal career as an associate with McInnis, Fitzgerald, Rees, and Sharkey in 1998. The following year he joined Higgs, Fletcher, and Mack as an associate, a position he held for the next five years. During his tenure there, he specialized in employment and business law, handling wrongful termination, discrimination claims, wage and hour violations, and harassment. Then, in 2004, he moved to Hurst and Hurst, where he worked as an associate until 2008. Freestone returned to Higgs, Fletcher, and Mack in 2008, eventually becoming a partner in 2014.
He has served as president of the San Diego County Bar Association. He has also been a board member of the Tom Homann Law Association.
